Please could anyone tell me how to use this - on the PDF tab I can select PDF/A-1b:2005(CMYK) but where do I go from there - where do I output my archive tags (client code, date, document type, etc)? Thanks

Hi Jon,

The archive tags are in a .pdi file and in a .xml file generated alongside your PDF in the output folder you setup in your PPImage output. You have 3 archiving options in the PPImage output window: None (no pdi or xml files), pdi, xml (will generate both a pdi and xml file). I hope this answers your question. Please clarify your concerns if I understood wrong.

Regards,

Olivier

Hi Olivier, thanks for your reply. I now have both the PDI and the XML outputting, the PDI looks like this:

================
~FormName=ContVW
~ArchiveFile=RY.CONTVW.16609E765431.1P000.20090624.165358
~Time=16:53:58
~Date=2009/06/24
~ArchiveMethod=PDF
~DataEncoding=ISO-8859-1
~Page=0
================

What I need is some additional fields along the lines of:

Client=1234567
Type=Statement
Reference=69809A12345
etc

Please could you tell me how to do that? The values are in the text file used to create the PDF.

Thanks very much.

Jon

Hi Jon,

The content of the index is created by the PlanetPress form design using data selection objects. If you have a client number in the data, create a data selection using that area of your data pane, then in the object's attributes, you will have an "archive/email/fax" tab. Click on it and set the index name.

From now on, every PDF created using that form will have the client number as an index value and will be found in the PDI/xml file.

Create as many data selection objects as you need indexed data selections. You can also use variables and jobinfos from Watch to index in the PDI/xml file.

Regards,

Olivier

Thanks Olivier that's great. I did notice that setting the image to PDF/A didnt make any difference - the PDI is still produced with all the fields in it even leaving the PDF type as Custom? So what's the point of it?
Thanks
Jon
