Is there any special procedure to installing PP Search on a workstation that has Adobe Reader 9.0 installed? We tried installing it for our customer but the PP Search icon does not appear in any of the toolbars.

thanks in advance!

Hi,

you might find an answer here:

http://www.objectiflune.com/cgi-bin/ultimatebb.cgi?ubb=get_topic;f=87;t=000037;p=1#000003

i.e. try the 'repair' option to re-install PlanetPress Search.

Hope this helps,

Benoit

Hello Lou,
Also know that Acrobat Reader does not show non-Adobe plug-ins by default so you need to go in the options of the Reader to enable this.

Hope this helps.

Thanks guys for the help.

The customer says their users all have Adobe reader 9.0 installed. Will 9.0 be supported soon?

Lou

Hi Daniel,

I checked on my own laptop and my v9 Acrobat Reader does not show the PPSearch Plug-in either. Acrobat Help indicated that Reader was probably running in "Certified" mode so that only certified Adobe plug-ins will work with Reader. I think to fix this customer (and my own install) that I just need to turn off Certified mode and reinstall Search. How do you turn off Certified mode in Acrobat Reader 9.0?

Hello Lou,
Adobe Reader 9 will tell you, in Edit-Preferences-General-Applicatino Startup a value for "Currently in Certified Mode:" reflecting the current mode. If no 3rd party plug-ins are installed, even if the check box right next to it "Use only certified plug-ins" is not checked, it will show that it is in certified mode.

To have PP Search 7 in Acrobat 9, make sure you HAD Acrobat 9 installed at the time you installed PlanetPress Suite 7. If not then it will not appear.

I would suggest you simply uninstall PP Suite 7, double check Acrobat 9 is indeed installed and has been started at least one time, then re-install PP Suite 7.

In Acrobat, before or after installing PP Suite, make sure the "User only certified plug-ins" option is UNchecked in Edit-Preferences-General-Applicatino Startup

Let us know if that solves your issue.

Best regards,
