Would it be possible to retain the original filename when processing through PlanetWatch / Image?

One of our current setups has a processing queue on VMS (Dec-VAX) where the original job is located and a second queue which is accessible by the PC that has PlanetWatch installed. In this setup, when the file is submitted to the second queue, it loses the original filename and is replaced by a unique filename mainly for windows. The reason for this setup is to prevent issues as multiple versions of a filename can be submitted and windows does not handle multiple versions of a file.

Any ideas would be much appreciated.

Thanks.....

hh_oper_dev,

Have you tried using a Rename action with %o to rename the job files to their original file names? In the case of a WinQueue Input, try %4 instead, which should contain the document's name when printing to the WinQueue Input.

Hi Raphael,

I tried both suggestions with no success. When I used %o the filename was the same unique filename.pdf. I tried the rename plug-in and also setting the filename in the image properties.

When I tried %4 - using the rename plug-in resulted in an error W1603, after updating image properties the filename was .pdf.

Not sure why that happened. If the filename was in the header page, would there be a way of extracting the name out of the header page and use that when renaming the file? I don't know if this is possible.

Any other suggestions would be appreciated.

Thanks.....

hh_oper_dev,

At this point, it would be worth it to see how you built your config, which will help us figuring out why it doesn't work properly. So I suggest that you open a technical support issue. You can call 1-866-348-5863, or use the web page:

The web page did not accept our development license so I am not sure we have technical support. We are using LPD Input as our queue.
