Hi Forum!

I would like to use the "PayPal Standard" payment module for a customer.
The customer points me to information at the PayPal site, saying it should be possible for the print buyer to pay with credit card via PayPal, without logging in or register as a PayPal user.
This would give the buyer a better shopping experience.

I have set up a PayPal test account both for buyer and seller in PayPal "sandbox" (test site), as well as in Printshop Mail Web.
When testing, the buyer has only two options when he checks out and pays: Login to PayPal or register.
How can the buyer also have the option to pay with credit card without signing in to a PayPal account?
Do I need the PayPal Express Checkout option?
If so, how can this be tested in sandbox?

The PSMW admin guide states on page 160: "There is even a service that lets
your customers who do not have PayPal accounts pay by credit card through the PayPal server."

Any ideas here?

Hi Roffe,

I could not find the option to pay without an account either. I will definitely report this to our developers and documentation team to get the details, or have this statement corrected.

Thanks. Regards,
Olivier

After some verifications, it seems that the text that's written in the documentation is more or less verbatim from paypal's own marketing material (albeit, probably some older one).

I'll be correcting this page as I'm in charge of documentation.

Roffe, you'll have to contact Paypal for more information on how these services work. Because we are only a "link" to PayPal, it uses their own system for payment, and we have little to do with how it works. Whatever option they offer, it's not something that can be configured or setup on our side.

The service you're looking for is probably PayPal Payments Standard, and there's contact information on that page to get started with the service.
